There are many steps one can take to improve their life but many people get stuck because of all of the information out there. Life is very simple, us humans just make it more complicated than it has to be. Taking simple steps can improve your complicated life… just try it. In my opinion, the 4 pillars of a good life start here: HEALTH, WEALTH, FAMILY, A MISSION.
HEALTH: you can’t get anywhere without gas in the tank. Your body and mind is the most important pillar to leading and living a good life. Health complications are not something you want to slow you down as you age and become more wise. Taking care of your body and mental should be priority #1 ALWAYS. Sleep over staying up late… skipping the sugar.. working out even when you don’t want to. Reading a book before bed versus staring at a tv or your phone. Your health is the gas that makes the car go. If you’re not eating right, working out, or getting enough sleep, do not expect to enjoy life for as long as you hope. Your health will show as you age and your actions or inaction will be like a big glaring road sign when you get older. Take care of yourself yesterday. If not, TODAY. Take more walks. Research necessary vitamins and take those. Prioritize veggies and water over fried foods and sugary drinks. The old you will thank you. The longer you wait to course correct, the harder the journey will be. Damage can be reversed but only so much.
WEALTH: As much as people like to make it not, MONEY IS JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING. Hear me out. Money is a tool. It’s almost as important as water. In this country, you will not survive without both. Wealth can be tied up in knowledge but even the most intelligent person you know, knows to get some money and keep some stacked for a rainy day. This is not something you can get around. A big key to a better life is more money. Better finances. Discretionary income. It matters. A LOT. Money brings you a better diet, better doctors when you’re sick, better living quarters, a better neighborhood to live in.. just a better life overall. You can’t deny this fact. Money also brings you the ability to help family and friends when they’re in need. So find something to do that pays. MASTER THAT SKILL. Then make people pay you for it. Bored? Find another skill and master that one as well. You will never go hungry with this mindset.
FAMILY: Family is everything. Your blood family and your chosen family. Most of us work solely to take care of our families. I would argue that ALL of us do. Even the lonely have someone they consider deep down inside that they look out for, whether it be a neighbor or a neighborhood stray cat. Family is what truly keeps you going, either the family you already have or the family you’re looking to create and take care of.
A MISSION: What keeps you going 365 days a year? What makes you get up and leave the house on a rainy day? A mission. We all have one. Or we should. Your mission is your solely. It is what you’re focused on. What is it you want in life? What do you want to accomplish? What places do you want to see? What is your aim in life? Start there. If you want to see your life improve, find something that you really want to accomplish in life and write down every step you need to take to get from point A to point B and start hammering at it. Life gets better when you have tasks in front of you that are getting picked at constantly.
