Pressure
Pressure will mold you.
Pressure is what makes me change when I don’t want to. Pressure bursts pipes. It also breaks down doors. It molds YOU. Peer pressure can make you do things you never thought you’d do. PRESSURE. Pressure is what makes you go for things you never aimed at before. Pressure is what makes you hustle a little bit harder.
Deadlines. Wanting more out of life. New job. New responsibilities. Becoming a parent. Getting a promotion. I can keep going for days. All of these involve pressure. Pressure to perform. Pressure to do better. Pressure to reach higher and go further. Life is full of pressure. The key to this shit is to use it to your advantage.
Pressure makes you perform. For example.. when I don’t have a deadline, I’m more inclined to keep pushing the work off. When I have a deadline, and it’s closer than I expected, it unlocks a different version of me. It is not my factory settings. I call this my Winter Soldier. I have earned A’s on projects or exams that I wasn’t ready for but a deadline was presented and I did what had to be done to get the job done. I have been behind at work and locked in for a night or 2 and played catch up on something that took my coworkers 2 weeks to do. This is what I mean by PRESSURE.
For me, pressure is a good thing. It’s a GREAT thing if you ask me. I have my best performances under pressure. When I have a deadline. When the clock is running down and I need to execute like RIGHT NOW. That’s when I look like Jordan in the clutch.
So put yourself under more pressure. Make deadlines. Sign up for things with HARD deadlines. Be scared. Scare yourself with how you’re going to get that done in that little time. Even if you don’t complete what you need to get done, you’ll learn something about yourself. And you’ll grow more skills. Pressure is necessary. STACK ON.
